Jim Morrison a Parigi
Ray Manzarek, tastierista e co-fondatore, assieme all’amico Jim Morrison, dei mitici Doors, ha confidato al Daily Mail i suoi dubbi sulla morte di Jim. Il quale non sarebbe morto per collasso cardiaco nel 1971, ma avrebbe invece inscenato la sua morte per rifugiarsi alle Seychelles.
“I often wonder if his death has been an elaborate charade. Jim was a restless soul, always looking for something else in life, and even six years of success – and excess – with The Doors hadn’t been enough for him. A year earlier, he had shown me a brochure for the Seychelles and said: ‘Wouldn’t this be the perfect place to escape to if everyone believed you were dead?’
At the time, I never thought anything of it. Jim was a real wild man who was always coming up with crazy ideas. But he was also very smart.
When I got the call from our manager to say he had died in Paris, I was in California. We had just released LA Woman, and Jim was having a sabbatical while we planned our next tour. [...]“
Anni fa un giornalista – francese, se non erro – pubblicò una sorta di diario nel quale sosteneva di avere incontrato diverse volte Morrison. Non ricordo il nome del giornalista in questione, ma il libro è stato pubblicato anche nel nostro Paese, e non credo sia di difficile reperibilità.
